I started off as a Biological Sciences graduate from the University of California, Davis and now am a PhD student in Microbiology there. This rigorous scientific foundation has given me deep fluency in the core subjects that students most often find challenging at the AP and university levels. My academic training is complemented by hands-on research experience across institutions including Harvard Medical School's Massachusetts General Hospital, UC Davis, and industry labs — giving me the ability to connect classroom concepts to real-world scientific practice in a way that makes abstract material far more tangible for students.

My formal teaching experience began as a Teaching Assistant for BIO 2L at UC Davis, where I independently led three laboratory sections per week across Winter and Spring 2026, guiding undergraduate students through hands-on lab work while grading pre-labs and post-labs. This experience sharpened my ability to explain technical procedures clearly, identify where students commonly struggle, and adapt my communication style to the needs of individual learners. Since September 2025, I have also been working as a tutor with Pacific Preparatory, where I tutor high school students in AP-level Biology, Statistics, Calculus, and Chemistry — subjects I am well-prepared to teach both conceptually and in terms of exam strategy.

My approach to tutoring is rooted in the belief that understanding the "why" behind a concept matters more than memorizing the "what." Action-oriented tutor who optimizes time and customizes a plan unique to the challenge

My daughter has had one targeted SAT lesson with Shweta to date and we were very impressed. While I cannot yet attest to long term results, we have booked a strategic few additional lessons and anticipate strong benefit. What immediately set Shweta apart for us was her detailed, action-oriented, results driven response to our inquiry for a tutor who could specifically help a high scoring student reach the final elusive points for a perfect (or near-perfect) SAT score. Several tutors replied to our inquiry. Shweta's response was anything but generic. Rather than a rote outline describing how we'd need to start with the fundamentals across all topics and work our way through a lengthy program consisting of many lessons (and consequently costs), Shweta heard and acknowledged the need, clearly took the time to think about and customize a plan unique to the challenge, and earned our selection to work with her. As for the lesson itself, my daughter "loved that Shweta was down to business" with a focused approach that optimized time and actually provided her new equations to study that tangibly enhanced her learning and the potential to increase her score. She aligned well with Shweta's personality, easily dialoguing during their online session and feeling the lesson was both comfortable and collaborative. I too have enjoyed corresponding with Shweta via email exchanges and have appreciated her thorough responses to my follow up questions including transparently communicating that she would research an area she had less immediate familiarity with in order to determine if she could best assist us. That is true value in my book and we look forward to continued targeted sessions for optimal outcome with Shweta in the future.
