I started off as a Biological Sciences graduate from the University of California, Davis and now am a PhD student in Microbiology there. This rigorous scientific foundation has given me deep fluency in the core subjects that students most often find challenging at the AP and university levels. My academic training is complemented by hands-on research experience across institutions including Harvard Medical School's Massachusetts General Hospital, UC Davis, and industry labs — giving me the ability to connect classroom concepts to real-world scientific practice in a way that makes abstract material far more tangible for students.

My formal teaching experience began as a Teaching Assistant for BIO 2L at UC Davis, where I independently led three laboratory sections per week across Winter and Spring 2026, guiding undergraduate students through hands-on lab work while grading pre-labs and post-labs. This experience sharpened my ability to explain technical procedures clearly, identify where students commonly struggle, and adapt my communication style to the needs of individual learners. Since September 2025, I have also been working as a tutor with Pacific Preparatory, where I tutor high school students in AP-level Biology, Statistics, Calculus, and Chemistry — subjects I am well-prepared to teach both conceptually and in terms of exam strategy.

My approach to tutoring is rooted in the belief that understanding the "why" behind a concept matters more than memorizing the "what." Drawing on years of experience communicating complex scientific findings — from presenting research at the ARS 2024 Conference to writing USDA licensing reports — I know how to break down dense material into clear, logical steps. I work primarily one-on-one and adapt each session to the student's current level, learning pace, and goals, whether that means reinforcing foundational concepts or preparing for an AP exam.

Approved Subjects

Anatomy

Anatomy

As a PhD student in Microbiology with a Bachelor of Science in Biological Sciences, I have an extensive background in the foundational sciences that are heavily tested on the NBCOT exam, including anatomy, physiology, neuroscience, and biology. My graduate-level training has sharpened my ability to analyze complex material and communicate it clearly, which translates directly into effective board exam preparation. I am experienced in working through practice questions, identifying knowledge gaps, and developing structured study strategies to maximize retention and performance. I am comfortable using student-provided materials such as NBCOT/AOTA practice resources to tailor sessions specifically to the content areas where you need the most support, helping you walk into your exam confident and well-prepared.Sonnet 4.6Adaptive
Biochemistry

Biochemistry

As a PhD student in Microbiology with a Bachelor of Science in Biological Sciences, I have extensive experience conducting independent research and navigating the academic publication process. My graduate training has equipped me with strong skills in quantitative analysis, scientific writing, and data interpretation — all of which are essential for a competitive STS or ISEF project. I have a keen interest in the intersection of biology, mathematics, and technology, including emerging applications of AI in biomedical and imaging research. I am well-positioned to help guide the development of a project exploring dynamic medical imaging outputs using AI, from conceptual framing and mathematical modeling to structuring a manuscript suitable for publication. I understand what judges and reviewers look for at the highest levels of science competition and am committed to helping students produce rigorous, original, and impactful work.
Biology

Biology

With a Bachelor of Science in Biological Sciences and currently pursuing a PhD in Microbiology, I have a deep and well-rounded academic background in science. My studies have built a strong command of life sciences, chemistry, and the quantitative reasoning that underpins them — including the math skills essential at the 8th grade level, such as algebra, data interpretation, and scientific notation. Throughout my graduate training, I regularly apply mathematical concepts to research, giving me the ability to connect classroom math to real-world scientific contexts in a way that makes the material more engaging and meaningful for students. I am well-equipped to support your son across both subjects and help him develop the skills and confidence he needs to succeed.
