Hi! My name is Ethan. I am a fourth-year mathematics major at UC Davis, and I plan to pursue graduate study in mathematics after completing a fifth year. I offer online tutoring year-round and occasional in-person tutoring near campus.

I tutor a wide range of mathematics, including high school subjects such as Algebra, Geometry, Trigonometry, and Precalculus; lower-division college courses such as Calculus and Statistics; and upper-division courses including Probability, Linear Algebra, Linear Programming, and Modern Algebra.

Over the years, I have gained informal tutoring experience through helping my younger sister with math from middle school through college-level discrete mathematics. Through that experience, I learned the importance of patience, adaptability, and clear explanations when going over tricky material.

My tutoring style focuses on helping students deeply understand concepts rather than simply memorizing procedures. I emphasize step-by-step explanations and walk-throughs and work carefully through examples so students can build both confidence and long-term problem-solving skills. I also try to adapt my teaching style to each student’s background and pace of learning.

I know that math can sometimes feel intimidating or frustrating, especially in fast-paced classes, so I aim to create a supportive environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and working through mistakes.

Whether you are preparing for exams, working on homework, trying to strengthen your foundations, or studying advanced topics, I would be happy to help! Feel free to reach out with any questions you may have!
