My name is Chris. I am currently an electrical and computer engineering student at UC Davis. Helping others learn is something I've always been passionate about. As someone who had trouble learning when I was younger, I find great value in giving back to the community by helping others achieve success in their academics and personal life, and I've been doing that through tutoring! My approach to tutoring isn't just to help students understand how to solve specific kinds of problems, but rather to develop their intuition so they can learn and retain problem-solving skills and use it further in their educational journey.
I have about two years of experience tutoring engineering courses at my university, and some experience tutoring math and science to family friends. Most of my tutoring has been one-on-one, either in person or online through Discord or Zoom. I have also held group tutoring sessions, where I reviewed concepts before a major exam. Many of the students I have tutored reported significant improvement in their academics after I tutored them.
My approach to tutoring isn't just to strengthen conceptual knowledge, but to build problem-solving skills they can use in their academic and personal lives. On top of teaching students how to solve specific problems, I help them analyze the problem in greater depth, so they can pick up the underlying intuition required to succeed in the subject. To make learning more enjoyable, I often incorporate analogies and visuals relevant to everyday life to engage the students further. I am looking forward to helping others learn!
