Although I started out as a private piano tutor, I have now been tutoring elementary and middle school students in math for over 1.5 years. One of the most rewarding parts of tutoring has been helping students go from disliking math to enjoying it. Sometimes that means hearing their latest math jokes every class!
I believe anyone can learn math because I personally struggled with it until the end of middle school. Since I've experienced what it feels like to fall behind and catch up later, my teaching philosophy has always been centered on true mastery rather than simply memorizing rules and pushing ahead.
I love coming up with illustrations and different ways to explain concepts clearly, but I also take a very hands-on approach. I believe students learn best when they actively practice solving problems instead of only listening to explanations.
Tutoring is meaningful to me not only because I enjoy teaching, but also because I learn so much from each of my students. I am always open to feedback and eager to keep improving. Feel free to contact me with any questions or to schedule a lesson!
