I am an incoming medical student who got in the hard way, and I mean that in the best possible sense. I attended Saint Mary's College of California, not a prestigious pre-med pipeline school. I scored a 514 on the MCAT and only took the exam after the application cycle had already opened. I submitted my first secondary in mid-September, which is objectively late. I spent a majority of the application cycle traveling and took my MD interviews from overseas in Europe. By every conventional measure, I was behind.

I still received five MD interview invitations and three acceptances from just 18 completed applications.
That ratio is not luck. It came from being extremely intentional: knowing exactly which schools to apply to, writing secondaries that were focused and authentic rather than generic, and presenting my application as a cohesive story rather than a checklist. I did not need a research publication or a 515+ MCAT to get there. I needed a strategy, and I executed it well under imperfect conditions. This is exactly what I help premed students build. Whether you are two years out and want to plan your path wisely, or you are in the middle of an application cycle and need help with your personal statement, secondaries, or interview prep, I can give you practical, honest guidance from someone who recently lived it.

For students preparing for the MCAT, I also specialize in the Psych/Soc section, where I scored a 132. This is a section many students underestimate, where a student with no prior background in psychology or sociology can realistically score a 132 because it rewards strategic content mastery over years of coursework. Most students either neglect it entirely or study it inefficiently, which is exactly where points are left on the table. I can help you master the AAMC content framework that makes it unique.

College Counseling

College Counseling

I’m an incoming medical student who earned 3 MD acceptances and 5 interview invitations from just 18 completed applications, coming from Saint Mary’s College of California with a 3.8 GPA and a 514 MCAT. I focus specifically on college counseling for premed students: choosing the right majors and courses, planning activities that actually matter, and mapping out an MCAT and application timeline that makes sense for your situation. I help high school and college students build a realistic multi year plan so that by the time they apply to medical school, their profile tells one coherent story instead of a collection of random experiences. Drawing on my own recent cycle, I share my application strategy and decision making process so you can avoid common pitfalls and position yourself competitively from the start without having to take multiple gap years.
MCAT

MCAT

I scored a 132 on the MCAT Psych/Soc section (99th+ percentile) with a 514 overall and a 3.8 GPA from Saint Mary's College of California. My approach to the section was systematic and replicable as it was built around mastering the right source material, working through the major question banks strategically, and tracking every important terms I saw but get missed by most prep materials. Through that process I built a personal glossary of nearly 100 terms I share directly with my students. Psych/Soc is the one MCAT section where a focused student can realistically score a 132 regardless of their background, and I can walk you through exactly how.
Personal Statements

Personal Statements

I’m an incoming medical student who earned 3 MD acceptances and 5 interview invitations from just 18 completed applications, coming from Saint Mary’s College of California with a 3.8 GPA and a 514 MCAT. I help students with both their personal statement and the entire application: school list strategy, activities section, secondaries, and interview prep, so every piece tells one clear story instead of feeling like disconnected bullets. I share my own successful application profile and walk you through how to adapt the same narrative structure to your experiences, focusing on authenticity rather than clichés or over editing. Whether you’re starting from a blank page or refining a final draft, I can help you turn your application into a cohesive, compelling case for admission.

Amazing MCAT Tutor & Pre-Med Mentor, Highly Recommend!

I started working with Zayan after feeling overwhelmed and unsure of where to focus my energy. He set the tone by establishing a solid baseline as we went through my full length results together and identified where my gaps were. We built a structured plan from the ground up that told me where I could improve quickly with easy points I am leaving on the table. We reviewed questions I had struggled with and pinpointed the specific content areas that were holding me back. The strategies he shared led to noticeable improvements in my practice scores almost immediately. He also took time to give me guidance on the med school application process as a whole. He suggested specific ECs I could pursue to make my application more competitive, which honestly was something I hadn't even thought to ask about. It felt like he was invested in my success beyond just the test itself. Beyond all that, he was incredibly kind and patient throughout the entire process. He's responsive, friendly, and easy to work with. I really appreciated working with him and would strongly recommend him to anyone looking to improve their MCAT performance.
