A child is starting Mandarin and wants lessons that feel genuine and alive. A teenager who grew up hearing Chinese at home now wants to speak it elegantly and read it clearly. A college student or working adult starting now, worried it's too late, but eager to connect with China, a fast-growing global power. I've spent twenty years teaching these learners, ranging from age 7 to age 70.
I hold a Master's in Bilingual/Bicultural Education from Columbia University, and I've taught Chinese at both Columbia and NYU. Beyond the university classroom, I've led Chinese workshops at The New York Times, prepared teens for AP and IB Chinese exams, and designed Business Chinese training for corporate professionals. I've also worked closely with bilingual programs in elementary schools.
Every student is unique in their needs and goals, and my job is to guide, encourage, and open doors, because a new language is a door to a fascinating new world, full of opportunity and discovery. I'll be with you on every step of that journey.
