Hello! My name is Madison and I am a certified teacher (Elementary Education 1-6, TESOL K-12) in both CA and NY. I have a M.Ed. in Childhood Education (grades 1-6) with a concentration in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages. My earliest teaching background has been literacy focused and I have experience teaching emerging and developing readers in elementary and middle school. I worked with students who wanted or needed specific and targeted instruction in reading and writing, supplementing the curriculum they were using in class with customized intervention. I have used several different curriculums and use a blend of different methods. I typically approach reading instruction using a Science of Reading lens.

In the past few years, I have also taught math, science, art, and social studies at the elementary and middle school levels. I am trained in the Bridges math curriculum and have used several others. I have built out the visual arts program and curriculum for two different schools at both the elementary and middle school levels to integrate principles of art with science and social studies.

As a tutor, I hope to curate a program that works for the student. I will pull from all of the resources that I have used and will look to integrate new ones, should the student benefit from other methods.

Additionally, I engage in my own art practice which includes drawing (pencil, charcoal, ink).
