Hello, I'm Giovanni! I look forward to the opportunity to working alongside you in hopes of achieving your academic goals. I graduated from California State University, Channel Islands (CSUCI) in 2018 as a double major with a Bachelor's degree in English, a Bachelor's degree in Spanish and a minor in Chicana/o Studies. I have worked in education in various capacities since 2019.
After graduating from CSUCI, I began my educational career working as a Bilingual Instructional Assistant from 2019-2021 for the Anaheim Union High School District (AUHSD) at a title 1 high school in Anaheim, CA. I primarily worked with non-native/limited English-speaking students from various cultural backgrounds. My responsibilities included providing instruction to these students in a variety of subject areas, integrating various instructional methods to facilitate their diverse learning styles, and communicating directly with teachers, administrators, and parents regarding student academic and behavior progress. From 2021-2022, I enrolled in California State Polytechnic University, Pomona's preliminary teaching credential program where I completed clinical practice (student teaching) at another title 1 school in AUHSD where I gained valuable skills including lesson planning, grading, establishing positive rapport with students, and other key responsibilities. From 2023-2024, I made my official teaching debut working for the Diocese of Orange as a 6th Grade English and Social Studies Teacher. Currently, I am working as a long-term substitute teacher for a magnet school in the Los Angeles Unified School District.
I adapt to the individual needs of the students under my direction which involves breaking down complex topics into more manageable parts. I also implement scaffolding techniques, differentiated instruction, and positive reinforcement to help students gradually develop skills, independence, and to gain a competitive edge in today's constantly evolving 21st Century climate.
