Hello, I'm Lauren! I graduated from Stanford with a B.S. in Computer Science and am an incoming M.S. candidate in Computer Science. In my undergraduate career, I served as a teaching assistant for Stanford's two introductory computer science classes, Introduction to Programming and Data Structures & Algorithms. It was through this role that I found my deep passion for teaching. I valued the connections with my students and the shared satisfaction of watching them master difficult concepts quickly. I furthered my pedagogical training through classes at Stanford Graduate School of Education and expanded my experience with students of different ages by tutoring math and reading at middle and elementary schools.
My teaching philosophy centers around actively listening and building on what students say, paired with feedback that keeps them motivated to practice even after our sessions end. I take time to understand each student's individual strengths to learn what content they have already mastered and what still needs reinforcement. This allows me to connect with each student personally and host more effective tutoring sessions.
I specialize in any level of computer science classes (AP CS, Introduction to Programming, Data Structures & Algorithms), standardized test prep (SAT, PSAT, AP Exam Prep), and math (AP Calculus, College Calculus, Precalculus, Algebra, Geometry, Trigonometry). I host sessions 1:1 virtually on weekday evenings and weekends. Please feel free to reach out to me with any questions or a consultation!
