Writing is all around us -- in everything from college brochures to textbooks to advertising and social media. And reading is the process by which we take it all in. I want my students to go from merely receivers of the messages around them to being active creators and critical thinkers themselves.
My love and passion for the written word is matched only by my desire to communicate and feel connected with students. Teaching is about empathy and being adaptable to the needs of students: These are things I welcome and embrace because the rewards--seeing students become empowered artists and citizens--are well worth it.
