I'm Jason! I am a graduate of East Carolina University where I double majored. I received a bachelors of English with a focus in creative writing and a bachelors of modern American History. Upon graduation I taught 10th, 11th and 12th grade English. I was eager to make a difference, I was going to be that teacher and educator that kept my students excited and engaged. I am now in my 16th year and I have continued refining my approach, teaching style and delivery into an atmosphere of student engagement, positive peer review, sensory activities, traditional classroom lecture and most importantly 100% parent/guardian involvement and communication.
Now, I'm sure you're wondering what sets me apart from the rest. Sure I'm fun, and I know how to keep you coming back. But to get a teenager to focus it starts Before the first session. I do a 60 min FREE consultation 2 days prior to our first appointment. I use that time to listen to my student and parents/gaurdians. I ask that you bring your 3 lowest scored test and your 3 highest scored test with you so we can identify the strengths and weaknesses. Together we will tailor a detailed lesson plan to each student's specific needs. However each plan will include weekly attainable achievements to help build confidence, 1 small writing assignment each week, 1 grammar or spelling activity each week and 1 reading comprehension activity. As you may or may not know, but when students enter the 10th grade they face a daunting State writing test. Based on statistics, over 60% aren't even reading or writing on a grade level.
I'm very skillful working with teens who have trouble focusing and those with ADHD.
