My path was not a traditional “perfect grades” story. I had relatively low high school and college GPAs, including a 3.0 college GPA, but still earned admission to strong schools and later received scholarship support for graduate school. I completed my MBA at Cornell Tech, studied Computer Engineering with an English minor at UC Santa Barbara, served as a U.S. Marine Corps officer, and later worked at Visa.
Because I was not the strongest conventional academic student, I learned how to stand out in other ways: test strategy, positioning, communication, and telling a compelling story. That approach helped me earn strong standardized test scores, including a 33 ACT, 720 GMAT, and GRE scores of 160 Verbal, 161 Quant, and 5.5 Writing.
I especially enjoy helping students who feel they do not have a perfect profile. I can help with college essays, personal statements, application strategy, and test-taking strategy for students who want to present themselves more effectively and improve performance under pressure.
One of the most valuable lessons from my own admissions journey was the importance of differentiation. For my Cornell application, I created a unique rap video submission that received very positive feedback from admissions and, I believe, helped me stand out despite a lower GPA. That experience shaped how I think about essays and applications: the goal is not to sound generic, but to tell a clear, authentic, memorable story.
My style is supportive, practical, and strategy-focused.
