As a high school mathematics teacher I developed a philosophy of student success:

- Students must own the prerequisite concepts and skills.
- Teachers must teach appropriate concepts and skills aligned to current standards.
- Support must be accessible.

If you are struggling, chances are you have not yet mastered all the tools needed for developing new skills and grasping new concepts. I will provide the support you need to build a strong mathematical foundation. Together with your supporters (families and caregivers, teachers and school support staff, health professionals,…) I will create an personalized learning plan and consistently communicate our progress.

We will begin our adventure with an informal assessment of the mathematical concepts and skills you own. Next I will design a personalized concepts and skills map to help guide us through the world of mathematics beginning where you are and leading to the destination outlined in your personalized learning plan. I will provide a balance of practice and exploration through application. Over more than twenty years sharing the classroom with mathematicians of extremely diverse skill and motivational levels, I have developed carefully scaffolded curriculum designed to address individual needs. We will pause along the way to assess our progress with a variety of informal and formal assessments.

Session length and frequency will be determined by your needs and all efforts will be made to accommodate a custom schedule. Each session will close with a reflection on your progress and communication of next steps.

I have a degree in pure mathematics and over twenty years of classroom experience as a credentialed math teacher. I am specifically trained in Common Core and Advanced Placement (AP) teaching methods and curriculum. I have taught and tutored mathematics at every skill level, from elementary math to AP Calculus.
