15+ years teaching math and stats and inspiring student curiosity

I spent more than a decade in and around higher education and I have always enjoyed both sides of the education process - learning and teaching. I always remember helping others better understand mathematics, which naturally led me to become a tutor while working on my undergraduate degree. After I graduated from the University of California, Irvine with a master's degree in Mathematics in 2016, I briefly worked in the private sector but then decided to focus on doing what I genuinely enjoyed the most - teaching. Since then, I have worked as a mathematics professor in multiple community college districts across Riverside, San Diego, Orange, and Los Angeles counties. I am extremely excited about being a professor of mathematics and focusing my time and energy on teaching and mentoring students.

I have 15+ years of experience teaching the full range of math courses including statistics and trigonometry. I also have experience in preparing students for standardized tests such as SAT, ACT, AP Calculus, and AP Stats.

I like to keep my students interested in the subject and encourage them to ask as many questions as possible. I believe that teaching is another form of learning, and a teacher should be able to rediscover the subject along with a student through storytelling. I strive to tell a story that students can relate to, one that brings abstract concepts to life and makes them relevant to their experiences. By presenting mathematical concepts as a narrative, I aim to make the material more accessible and engaging. This simple teaching philosophy inspires me to continue researching pedagogy and andragogy to improve myself as an educator.
