I graduated from UCLA with a degree in Electrical Engineering, one of the most mathematically rigorous undergraduate programs. My studies required extensive work in calculus, differential equations, physics, and analytical problem solving. Earlier in my education at Corona del Mar High School, I received the Outstanding Achievement in AP Calculus AB award, recognizing exceptional performance in the course. This background allows me to help students understand challenging math and physics concepts by breaking them down into clear, logical steps.
Although I do not yet have formal tutoring experience, I began helping classmates understand difficult material during high school. In my AP Calculus AB course, a classmate who had been struggling on exams was seated next to me and often asked questions about homework and concepts during class. After working through some of the material together and discussing problem-solving approaches, he improved significantly and earned one of the highest scores on the next major exam. Experiences like this showed me how powerful clear explanations and step-by-step reasoning can be for students who feel stuck in math.
My tutoring approach focuses on building true understanding rather than memorization. Many students struggle because math and physics are often presented as formulas without explaining the reasoning behind them. I work with students to understand why a concept works so they can apply ideas confidently on homework, tests, and future courses. I encourage students to actively work through problems while I guide their thinking so they develop independence.
I primarily tutor high school and college students in subjects such as calculus, physics, trig, and algebra. Availability is online and flexible with travel within ~10 miles (in-person; e.g., sessions in Costa Mesa, Irvine, and surrounding areas).
