My name is Jubilee Yu, and I am a freshman at UCLA majoring in Computational Biology. I graduated as the salutatorian of my high school and earned scores of 4s and 5s on all of my AP exams, which gives me a strong academic foundation across math, science, English, and history. My name is Jubilee Yu, and I am a freshman at UCLA majoring in Computational Biology. I graduated as the salutatorian of my high school and earned scores of 4s and 5s on all of my AP exams, which gives me a strong academic foundation across math, science, English, and history. I also earned a 1520 on the SAT and was a scholarship finalist, and I was accepted to all UC campuses as well as several top colleges. These experiences allow me to confidently support students not only with subject mastery, but also with academic planning, standardized testing, and the college application process.
I have prior tutoring experience in high school mathematics as well as elementary-level computer science. I have worked with students in both one-on-one and small-group settings, focusing on breaking down complex concepts into clear, manageable steps and checking frequently for understanding. My approach emphasizes building confidence alongside skills, since I have seen how quickly students improve once they feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes. For computer science, I focus on logical thinking and problem-solving rather than rote memorization, helping younger students develop curiosity and persistence when learning to code.
In addition to subject tutoring, I can help students prepare for AP exams in math, science, English, and history by teaching content review strategies, practice question analysis, and effective study habits. I also offer essay writing and college admissions tutoring, drawing directly from my own successful application experience. I aim to tailor each session to the student’s age, goals, and learning style, whether that means structured lessons or flexible homework support. My goal is to make learning feel approachable and productive, while helping students reach measurable academic progress.

Biology

Biology

I earned an A in Biology at UCLA and scored 100% on a course midterm, demonstrating strong mastery of college-level biology. I also earned a 5 on the AP Biology exam and received an A+ in both AP Biology and Honors Biology in high school. I have experience tutoring high school students in biology, helping them understand and apply key concepts such as cell biology, genetics, and physiology. My tutoring emphasizes clear explanations, active recall, and practice-based learning to build long-term understanding and confidence.
Chemistry

Chemistry

I earned an A in General Chemistry at UCLA, as well as an A in both AP Chemistry and Honors Chemistry in high school, and I scored a 5 on the AP Chemistry exam. I have experience tutoring high school students in chemistry, helping them master core topics such as stoichiometry, thermodynamics, equilibrium, and acids and bases. I use evidence-based strategies like active recall and guided practice to improve retention and problem-solving skills, while adapting explanations to each student’s level and learning style.
Personal Statements

Personal Statements

I have helped students brainstorm, draft, and revise college personal statements and supplemental essays, focusing on clarity, authenticity, and strong narrative structure. I successfully wrote my own personal statement and supplements, earning admission to all UC campuses as well as Boston University, Northeastern, Harvey Mudd, and other private colleges. My approach emphasizes developing a clear personal voice, aligning stories with prompts, and refining essays through structured feedback and revision. I work closely with students to help them present their experiences compellingly while staying true to who they are.
