I am a university professor eager to serve students of all backgrounds and abilities. With over 15 years of experience in higher education, plus another 5 years in primary and secondary education, I am well-situated to help students find success in passing their courses, preparing for standardized tests, and becoming more proficient writers.

With specialized degrees in English, creative writing, and interdisciplinary medieval studies, I possess significant general and specialized knowledge in a variety of subjects. As professor of English, I have developed curriculum and created courses in Modernist literature, Film as Literature, and The Bible as Literature; taught courses as diverse as medieval literature and creative writing; and mentored students on professional and personal development. As former thesis director of an Honors Program, I led students through the research and writing process of composing a 50-page undergraduate thesis. As current director of a university writing center, I oversee and train over a dozen student workers to aid undergraduate and graduate students in all aspects of writing, including rhetorical feedback for essays, theses, and dissertations; providing dissertation copyediting services; and engaging in peer mentoring.

I believe strongly in a Socratic, dialogic approach to learning. Students retain information best when they can ask questions, have questions posed to them, and reflect deeply on the challenges and applications posed by the discussion. By engaging in the process, learning can be structured for nearly any field of study.
