I have over 10 years experience working with children of all ages in school and home settings. I worked for 2 1/2 years at a preschool for children with special needs. I have been doing child care for over 10 years and worked with children ranging from newborn to 10 years. I have peer tutored in college classes and I volunteered in a second grade classroom. I aim to establish a relationship of trust and respect with every child I work with.
My teaching style is guided discovery, meaning I help the student find the answer through their own hard work. I have found that when students discover the information, it allows for greater learning and better information retention. I think it is very important to find new ways to teach skills in the event the student doesn't understand it the first way. Not everyone learns the same way; I firmly agree with Gardner's theory of multiple intelligences. I look forward to helping you succeed in you educational career!
