Greetings, my name is Courtney! I’ve been fortunate to work with students (ages 10-24) for the past six years as a teacher, professor, coach, tutor, and advisor. I graduated from the University of California, Santa Cruz in 2015 with a BA in Modern Literary Studies. I hold a California Single Subject Teaching Credential in English and a Master's in Education from Notre Dame de Namur University. In 2025, I earned a dual concentration MFA in Creative Writing (Creative Nonfiction and Poetry) from Saint Mary's College of CA.

I've taught English, ELD 1, Creative Writing, College Study Skills, and Design Thinking courses to high schoolers both in-person and remotely. I have two years of experience teaching English Composition and facilitating writing groups at the university level, as well as three years spent as a writing advisor across disciplines for undergraduates. I have several years of experience working one-on-one with primary, secondary, and post-secondary students as an academic, writing, and executive function coach and tutor both in-person and remotely. I also have a background in SAT/ACT reading and writing test prep, as well as in AP Literature and Composition test prep.

I value building meaningful relationships with my students and lead with empathy and compassion. My pedagogy is student-centered and inquiry-based.
