My name is Moira, and I bring a background in Theater Arts and English from Fresno State University, along with a California Secondary English Credential. I spent five years teaching 12th grade English, where I focused heavily on helping students develop confidence in academic writing through structured brainstorming, clear outlining, and supportive sentence frames. I also taught literature and poetry, drawing on my own extensive reading experience to strengthen students' analysis and vocabulary.
I later taught law to 11th and 12th graders for six years, guiding students through Constitutional Law, Legal Advocacy, Criminal Law, and Civil Law. Much of this work centered on argumentative writing and evidence-based reasoning. My training included the Street Law Supreme Court Institute in Washington, D.C., and the Fresno Summer Teachers Institute, and I received the Liberty Bell Award for expanding public understanding of the legal system.
My theater background has also supported more than a decade of teaching public speaking, where I help students write and deliver speeches with clarity and confidence. I enjoy showing students how strong communication skills can support them in both academic and real-world settings.
I have tutored students individually and in groups since college, supporting learners in writing, literature, SAT preparation, law-related assignments, and public speaking. In every setting, my goal is to meet students where they are and help them grow in skill, independence, and self-onfidence.
