Hey there! I'm Julia, and I'm an experienced Writing Tutor and an author in the making with my first draft to be finished by the end of 2025.

I hold a Bachelor’s degree in English (Summa Cum Laude) from San Diego State University, with a Certificate in Children’s Literature, and a 140-Hour Master TEFL Certification. Additionally, I also completed coursework in Foundational Principles of English, Second Language Acquisition, and Lesson Design and Assessment through Arizona State University.

I have over three years of tutoring and teaching experience with students ranging from early childhood through college. I previously tutored in writing center's at community colleges, supporting college students in reading comprehension, writing fluency, grammar, and analytical thinking. This work was both in-person and remote, and includes one-on-one and group sessions, often using online platforms such as Zoom and SARS.

In 2024, I taught in Japan as a TEFL-certified English teacher for children ages 0–5, where I designed and delivered structured, play-based literacy lessons aligned with phonics and early reading development.

My approach is student-centered, structured, and focused on building foundational literacy skills. I regularly align my sessions with established curriculum goals, while adapting to each student’s individual pace and learning style. I have supported up to 120 students per semester in university writing mentoring roles, and have experience teaching 2-5 classes daily in early and higher education environments, demonstrating my ability to manage high volumes while maintaining individualized support.

Essay Writing

Essay Writing

I specialize in helping learners strengthen their writing structure, grammar, and clarity, while building confidence in analytical thinking and academic expression. My background includes tutoring at the Community College, and mentoring at San Diego State University, where I provided one-on-one and group support in essay composition, reading comprehension, and research. I’m passionate about guiding students through the writing process and tailoring instruction to meet the learning needs of each student, with the intent they will become confident in their own abilities.
Fiction Writing

Fiction Writing

As a creative writer for almost the past ten years, storytelling is one of the greatest ways of expression. During my studies at San Diego State University, I took on several creative writing projects of my own such as rewriting the entirety of Stranger Things Season 1 into a single point of view, writing Prose based off a single or several emotions, and writing the first draft of my novel. During this time, I was also giving feedback and critiques to fellow students to help them improve their own writing in both 1 on 1, and group discussions. The approaches I took were teaching revisions, emotional depth, tension building of scenes, as well as use of literary devices, plot structuring, and worldbuilding.
