I teach English to adults who need it for real life — job interviews, business meetings, passing exams, not sounding like a robot when they talk to colleagues.
I'm CELTA-certified and bilingual (English/Spanish). Before teaching, I spent 13 years in healthcare, which taught me how to explain complex ideas clearly and coach people through high-pressure communication situations. Now I do the same thing with English learners — break down confusing grammar, fix pronunciation issues that actually matter, and build lessons around what you're trying to accomplish, not what a textbook says you should learn.
I've worked with students from Korea, Vietnam, Mexico, and Spain. Different languages, same frustrations with English grammar. I get it. Articles make no sense. Phrasal verbs are a nightmare. Pronunciation feels like guessing. But it's all learnable, and I'm good at making it make sense.
Here's how I work: We figure out your actual goal — acing TOEFL or IELTS, improving conversational fluency, writing clearer emails, prepping for a presentation — and I build lessons around that. No generic textbook units. No boring drills. We use real materials (articles, videos, podcasts), practice real scenarios, and fix the mistakes that hurt your communication. If you're a Spanish speaker, I'll occasionally drop into Spanish to explain why English does something truly bizarre, but lessons stay in English. Immersion works.
I don't do participation trophies. If something's wrong, I'll tell you and show you how to fix it. If it's right, I'll tell you that too. You'll leave every lesson knowing exactly what to work on next.
BA in Communications from Cal State Fullerton. CELTA from Cambridge in 2026. Let's skip the awkward small talk and get you speaking English like you actually know what you're doing.
