For a long time, I have wanted to be the type of teacher who teaches the students how to find their motivation in a genuine love for learning, and not just getting a specific letter grade. Unlike the teachers I had throughout my own academic journey, I want to make sure my students know that they are more than a report card. This is my motivation.
After receiving my Bachelor of Insurance at Tamkang University in New Taipei City, I was trained to teach Mandarin at the National Taiwan University in 2011. Since then, I have used my personal experience as a native Chinese speaker and my formal training to teach students in both small classes and in one-on-one sessions. During our time together, my students can expect to learn and practice the four essential skills of learning a language: listening, speaking, reading, and writing. My goal is to help my students become confident and fluent in Chinese.
I am currently studying to become a Mandarin teacher in the public school system. Also, I have earned a permit to serve as a substitute teacher in California because I have a particular love for working with children and teenagers and truly guide them to become the best they can be. Although teaching younger kids is my main focus, I have been trained to teach adult learners as well.
Whether you are barely starting your journey in learning Mandarin, or if you are looking to brush up on previously acquired language skills, I hope to be a part of your learning process. I would like to talk about the learning goals with my students first. Then we may set up the learning process for every quarter or semester.
I am with qualifications listed below:
- Have genuine interests and patience in young children
- Proficiency in Mandarin & English
- 3 units of early childhood education
- Substitute Teaching Permit of California
