I’m Nancy. I graduated with a BA degree in Liberal/Bilingual Studies. I earned my California Teacher’s Certificate in multi-cultural schools. I was inspired by dedicated, patient, interesting professors whose lessons were challenging and fun. I use this enrichment approach, and my studies in child psychology help to build students’ confidence. I am patient, encouraging, clear, and positive, so students can handle learning challenges and have fun. I allow time for guided practice and independent practice so students are supported as they explore and learn. I adjust lessons for individual needs and learning styles so they can thrive.
I have over 36 years of teaching and tutoring experience, in the USA and abroad. I worked with international students studying TOEFL and English to enter university. On an internship in Morelia, Mexico, I taught in an elementary school where I ran an after-school program for ESL students. In the UAE, I taught in academic and vocational programs for children and adults, helping them improve in Technical and Business English and Math for professional qualifications. I tutored Academic students in English, Literature, and ESL. My work in these American IB and British National Curriculum/GCSE programs prepared students for exams, and projects, helping them pass with higher grades. I held extra tutoring lessons with Special Needs and Counseling support staff for students with remedial English, Math, Science, and History. My students achieved grades from 2 to 6-7 to enter mainstream classes.
