You are not alone. Although I worked hard to be a good student and completed my doctoral degree in the challenging subject of theoretical physics, I too have struggled at times. And after years dedicated to studying, teaching, and tutoring physics, I have developed a deep understanding of what separates out the best students. At the same time, after working directly with professors and then teaching my own college courses, I am also aware of the reasons why your professor seems so bad at communicating their knowledge, and what they are expecting from you (even if they don't say so themselves).
I have a PhD from University of California, Riverside; a Masters from California State University, Northridge; and a degree in Aerospace Engineering from the University of California, San Diego.
