Hello! My name is Katherine and I specialize in middle and high school-level mathematics up through AP Calculus AB/BC and SAT math. I look forward to helping you achieve your educational goals and building your foundation for mathematical success.

In the past two years, I have been volunteering as a middle/high-school math tutor at Professional Tutors of America, giving me experience in working with students of all skill levels and educational backgrounds. During tutoring sessions, I guide students through their homework, clarify any misconceptions, and provide supplemental examples to solidify their understanding of the materials. Prior to that, I tutored my two daughters and their peers up through AP Calculus AB and AP Calculus BC, leading to them achieving 5’s and 4’s on their AP exams. I also tutored them in SAT math, raising their scores by 150 points until they consistently scored 750+ in the math section. It has been rewarding seeing my students rediscover their confidence and love for math.

My students’ success lies in: my emphasis on building a strong foundation before diving into deeper topics, my hands-on approach to ensure comprehensive understanding, and my patient and encouraging demeanor.

I hold a B.S. in Computer Science and Statistics from the University of New South Wales, Australia, and have 15+ years of working experience as a software engineer at various companies, including American Express, Citi Bank, and TVB Corporation.

Highly intelligent, reliable, and passionate teacher!

Katherine really cares about ensuring her students understand and thrive in the material she’s teaching. She has a positive and passionate attitude and her intelligence on the subject really shows. I am taking a UCLA Precalculus course and she knew all the material and taught it really well, I would highly recommend her to anyone who needs help in her available math subjects. I have had around five sessions with her and she was consistent in her reliability and passion in ensuring I truly understood what I needed to know to ace my upcoming tests! I am looking forward to having more sessions with her whenever I need help with any subject she is teaching! She is truly amazing and will go out of the box to help her students learn to their full potential!

Katherine is a great teacher! She is extremely knowledgeable and passionate about what she does. I am currently taking tutoring sessions with her on AP Calculus BC, and she is very informative. Not only does she teach you the concepts but she will also make sure you understand the basics that build up to those concepts. She is always well prepared, and if you don't understand something, she will come up with her own examples to show you different ways of looking at the concept/question. She also has helpful materials and notes to look at and refer to. I highly recommend Katherine as a math tutor.
