Hi! My name is Jay D, and I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Biology & Society from Cornell University and am a Fulbright Scholar. As an incoming MD candidate, my academic journey reflects my passion for helping other students. My strong foundation in test and subject preparation equips me to guide students through challenging concepts with clarity and confidence.

Over the past 6 years, I have gained extensive tutoring experience in both one-on-one and group settings with over 30 students. I have worked with students ranging from middle school to college, tailoring my methods to meet their individual learning needs. With over 300 hours of tutoring experience, my approach emphasizes active learning, concept-based understanding, and problem-solving techniques, ensuring that students not only improve academically but also gain long-term skills for success. Whether teaching in a volunteer capacity or through formal classroom instruction, I strive to foster an engaging and supportive environment. I specialize in comprehensive test preparation, guiding students through 1) school coursework, 2) standardized tests (ACT, SAT, MCAT), and 3) subject-specific assessments.

My teaching philosophy is grounded in making learning accessible and enjoyable. I take pride in celebrating my students' progress, whether it’s achieving a higher grade, mastering a difficult topic, or building confidence in their abilities. With a strong record of standardized test success, including a 34 on the ACT in the 9th grade, I am well-prepared to help students excel academically and reach their full potential.
