Hello, my name is Kris. Welcome to my Wyzant introduction!

I'm an eternal learner and I enjoy teaching because I enjoy learning. It's amazing how much we can learn through teaching and sharing the knowledge with others.

I have a Master's degree in Japanese Linguistics and Pedagogy, and I have held several Teaching Assistant positions as a graduate students while I was working on my thesis. After finishing my graduate programs, I started my business career working for a Japanese Company and I've become fluent in "Business Japanese" (yes, they are a little different from "Standard Japanese"), which requires the deep understanding of Japanese business practices as well as unique corporate culture.

Although my formal training is in college-level teaching setting, I have also tutored and worked with a wide range of learners, from infants whose parents wanted to provide the English-Japanese bilingual environment, students whose schools did not offer Japanese language classes, college students who needed extra help for class credits, corporate customers who wanted to work in Japan, to art-loving people who just wanted to learn Japanese for fun. As a result, I'm very comfortable with giving my lessons from "in mostly English" to "in 100% Japanese" and everything in-between.

I provide a flexible, student-oriented service and I use different teaching methods dedicated to each student, depending on the level of experience and goal.
