Hi - I'm Nicole. I have 17+ years of experience working with students at all levels of the spectrum. As a tutor, I have worked for two different professional tutoring agencies, one specializing in SAT and ACT tutoring, and another specializing in K-12 subject tutoring. I have also worked with a county-based literacy council, working with both adult literacy learners and elementary students struggling to learn to read.

My tutoring style has been described as engaging, encouraging, and adaptive. I received a perfect scores on the SAT, and full scholarship opportunities to Yale and Wellesley. I am a flexible and adaptive tutor, whether my students are applying to college, studying for the SAT/ACT exams, or require specialized tutoring support in a specific school subject.

I am committed to helping the intimidated student become the confident student. I am particularly adept at helping students build strategies for successful test-taking, as well as understanding the material necessary to correctly answer the questions. It is important to remember that standardized tests follow a set pattern and employ the same strategies throughout; understanding how to navigate that pattern is key to a good score.

The skills and techniques I teach have a far-reaching and long-lasting impact on a student’s general knowledge and confidence. Incorporated into my lessons are reading, writing, and math fundamentals that provide review and enrichment. I work with each student to create an individualized plan of study, taking into account each student’s unique strengths and abilities. It is my goal to create a fun and dynamic learning experience that can motivate any student and enhance their love of learning. I believe that through positive thinking and consistent practice, a student can achieve their goals.
My fall 2022 student roster is close to full capacity. If you're interested in scheduling a session, please message me directly. My current availability and schedule is not maintained on Wyzant.

I am a current graduate student in Special Education with a Bachelor’s Degree in Humanities. I spent a year when I was in high school working with a 7-year-old girl diagnosed with ASD. She struggled with reading and explaining what she had read to another person. She was capable of comprehending, just not particularly skilled in communicating her own understanding. I also spent a year working with an 11th-grade boy with ASD in reading and math. He struggled with time-management, and also putting his thoughts down on paper. I talked through his answers and ideas and quizzed him on vocabulary. We met twice a week.

Super HSPT Tutor

Nicole knows the HSPT test so well and could zero in on what my daughter needed to focus on in order to do her best possible. Nicole adjusted to what my daughter needed and my daughter feels very prepared thanks to Nicole's insights on the test and understanding of Kate's strengths and weaknesses. I will have Nicole work with my other daughter next year for sure!

Incredible ACT and SAT tutor!

Nicole’s ability to prepare students for the ACT and SAT are truly extraordinary! My son was particularly anxious about how he would perform on the math sections, but in addition to his phenomenal score improvement, he is finally able to grasp math concepts that had eluded him for so long. Nicole's impact has been invaluable. She tailored her teaching methods to my son's needs and gave him tools to help him strategize for success. My only regret is not finding Nicole sooner! Her method of preparation with both content and test taking strategies allowed my son to improve his overall ACT composite score by 6 points (28 to 34) and his ACT math score by 9 points (24 to 33 in math). He is more confident and is more excited to learn new and difficult concepts. I am so grateful for her help!

Most amazing HSPT tutor!!!!

Working with Nicole has been like breath of fresh air! My son has been very anxious about taking the HSPT. While he's very bright, he is not the strongest test-taker. He just had his first session with Nicole and he feels much more confident already! I was so impressed with Nicole's flexibility and ability to walk him through the test after doing a diagnostic. They worked on strategies and concretely on the content areas. We are so grateful to have found Nicole!!!

Knowledgeable, fun and patient tutor.

My nine year old daughter struggled with reading and she was hesitant to read on her own. Now, she looks forward to every class and over the last weeks she definitely improved her reading skills. Nicole is a very fun tutor and they both seem to have fun during their sessions. I hear them laugh a lot during the class. I would highly recommended Nicole as a tutor!

Patient, organized and helpful!

Nicole has been tutoring my high school aged daughter daily for a few weeks and helping her get on top of her homework load. She is a consistent and calm presence, and a great counterbalance to my ADHD daughter, who is academically capable but needs a lot of hand holding through the executive functioning aspects of juggling all of her high school workload. I highly recommend Nicole!

Amazing SAT Tutor!!!

Nicole is tutoring both of my sons to prepare for their upcoming exam. Nicole has been extremely helpful and talented at guiding them through problems that may at first seem complicated. It’s incredibly clear how much my sons have improved with her practice problems after only a few weeks.

Patient, knowledgeable and accommodating tutor

Nicole is a patient, understanding and accommodating tutor. My son has ASD and Nicole works well with him. She breaks down abstract & complex science lessons and apply real life examples to make them easier for my son to understand. Nicole teaches language arts lessons equally as well. She enjoys working with my son which makes me feel good. If needed, Nicole can nicely redirect my son’s attention to the lesson. If you're looking for a patient, knowledgeable, and accommodating tutor to work with your child, do not hesitant to reach out to Nicole.
