I am a graduate of Colgate University, where I earned a B.A. with a double major in History and Educational Studies, graduating summa cum laude and receiving the Award for Excellence in History. I also earned my Juris Doctor from the University of San Diego School of Law.
At Colgate, I worked as a tutor at the university’s Writing and Speaking Center, providing one-on-one support to college students. I helped students at every stage of the writing process, including brainstorming, outlining, thesis development, organization, drafting, revising, and proofreading. I also worked with students on oral presentations and communication skills. My Educational Studies background complemented this experience by giving me a strong foundation in teaching and learning.
I am particularly well suited to tutor writing, English, reading comprehension, history, and related humanities subjects. My History degree, law school education, and professional legal experience have required extensive research, close reading, analytical writing, and clear communication. As a law student and legal professional, I have researched complex issues and drafted briefs, reports, letters, and other professional documents.
My tutoring style is patient, encouraging, and individualized. I adapt my approach to each student’s learning style, goals, and academic level. Rather than simply correcting an assignment, I explain the reasoning behind my feedback so students develop skills they can apply independently. My goal is not only to help students improve a particular paper or assignment, but also to help them become more confident writers, critical thinkers, and independent learners.
