Hello my name is Sarah
I have a bachelor's degree in chemistry, and a minor in philosophy. I have been a chemistry teacher and tutor now for 10 years. I know the textbooks, common student errors, probable test questions, and if needed I have extra practice materials for students to use. I work for myself, on Wyzant's platform, and for the schools I have worked at.

I did organic chemistry research concerning the synthesis of free radicals at my university, and chemistry is my main passion along with tutoring and teaching. I like learning new fields, and I have taken a large quantity of random engineering courses (materials, civil, electrical, chem E, thermo, etc.), so I have a solid basic background in sciences other than chemistry and biology.

I can also help with English. I had straight A's in all of the college English and writing courses I took: English 1A/1B, Technical writing (for engineering), debate/public speaking, and philosophy (which was mostly writing). I teach both ESL and English for native speakers. I can teach grammar, essay writing, and reading comprehension. Structuring essays is interesting to me, and I enjoy teaching people how to create more intricate essays. I can speak Russian because my family is from Russia (I am the first generation here), so I can help native Russian speakers improve their English (with attention to mistakes specifically made by native Russian speakers). My English is a lot better than my Russian. I will gladly assist people of other language backgrounds as well.

My style:
I prepare for lessons to make the most of our time. Please let me know exactly what you need before our first session. I work best when the client is aware of specially what they need help with. ex. a certain topic, help with a grade, prep specific for a test, teacher doesn't follow a book, etc. I have a lot of resources and can utilize them best when I have open communication with the client. Let’s talk before the session!

Well prepared and helpful lesson

Sarah helped me prepared for a college level Gen Chem 2 exam. She was knowledgeable on the subject, and did a good job of making the material easy to understand. We worked through different practice problems together and she did a good job of pointing out questions and concepts that would likely be on the test. I highly recommend Sarah.

Really knows her subject

Went over acids, bases, and disassociation, Ka, Kb. I liked how she explained it thoroughly and didn't move on until I was solid on it. She explained different methods to solve problems.
