About Me

I specialize in Algebra, Geometry, and Trigonometry, helping students who feel stuck improve through clear explanations and step-by-step practice. My goal is to strengthen the fundamentals, build confidence, and help students solve problems independently.

Trigonometry can be especially challenging because concepts such as radians, the unit circle, graphing, transformations, identities, equations, and inverse functions build on one another. When one piece is missing, confusion can grow quickly. I break these topics into manageable steps and show students how the ideas connect.

My approach is structured, patient, and focused on understanding. Rather than simply memorizing procedures, students learn the reasoning behind the mathematics so they can apply what they know to unfamiliar problems.

Sessions are active and problem-focused. Students spend most of the lesson working through examples, recognizing patterns, and developing fluency. I also teach practical ways to remember important formulas and identities, reduce test anxiety, and improve long-term retention.

I regularly work with students in Algebra I, Geometry, Algebra II, and Trigonometry. I also provide targeted SAT Math and other test preparation using efficient problem-solving strategies.

I hold a degree in Applied Mathematics, scored a 760 on the SAT Math section, and have many years of experience teaching and tutoring mathematics.

Evening, late-night, and occasional same-day Instant Book sessions are available.

Before he knows it, the session is over and he has learned so much. I have a Bachelor's Degree in Math from UCSD and a Master's Degree in Education from SDSU. Tutoring is an honorable profession. Excellent Instructor Algebra I

Sammie W.'s two best strenghts are his calm, assertive demeanor and his intuitive sense of knowing where you are struggling. He was the perfect match to prepare my nervous 8th grader for a high school math placement test based on Algebra I. My son aced the placement test and will be skipping Algebra I, which gives him a chance to take calc in high school. And Sammie made the studying enjoyable.
