I have PhD in Religious Studies with a concentration in Ethics. My research focuses on the intersections of theology, philosophy, and economics. I have two masters degrees in theology, a bachelors in finance, and previously worked in banking. I currently teach undergraduate courses in theology, ethics, and economics. I have extensive knowledge of historical and contemporary Christian theology and ethics, political philosophy, moral philosophy, philosophy of language, metaphysics, and political economics. I am also well-practiced in helping students develop their writing and sharpen their general reading and critical thinking skills. I am a patient and easy-going teacher and can help students or interested individuals better understand difficult texts, concepts, and ideas from across the spectrum of the humanities (including economics).
I have completed extensive coursework and research in philosophy at a graduate level. Because my academic concentration is technically religious studies and theological ethics, I do not specialize in a particular, narrow school or area of philosophy. I am equally comfortable tutoring ancient philosophy, German idealism, or contemporary Continental or Analytic philosophy. I am especially competent in teaching ancient Greek philosophy, medieval scholasticism, Kant, Hegel, and Wittgenstein. Moreover, I worked outside the academy (banking) for seven years. This background helps me speak to and communicate with those not overly familiar with the concepts and jargon which graduate students and professors can tend to take for granted.
Please contact me if you are interested in lessons in religious studies, theology, ethics, philosophy, or general help with any liberal arts or humanities courses or assignments. My schedule is quite flexible and I am more than willing to meet the student where they are at with regard to their familiarity with the subject and to help with whatever is of interest to them.
