Hello! My name is Erin and I’m an award-winning photojournalist, historian, and essay editor.
I graduated from Ohio University with a Bachelor of Science in Visual Communication. I received multiple honors for my work in undergrad, including national and regional awards for photojournalism and won over $10,000 through successful grant applications based on my historical research and writing. After graduating, I interned with a national magazine and stayed on, spending a year peer-reviewing longform articles before pushing them forward to publication. I also interned with a decorated local newspaper for a year, where I learned the most compelling ways to communicate the heart and soul of my community to our audience. These experiences helped me refine my editing skills down to a polished and concise daily practice.
I excel in developmental essay editing that surpasses standard proofreading and copyediting. When editing, I bring my practiced eye for narrative precision and strong arguments to every session. For eight years, I have coached my peers on their writings through college applications and assignments, internship and job applications, and journalism articles. These efforts have resulted in acceptances to graduate and undergraduate programs, career interviews and offer letters, and publications.
With essay editing, I aim to maintain the vision and heart of my students while clarifying their work. I prioritize creating a collaborative and light environment so that my students can feel relaxed as they grow and learn to utilize new methods when crafting strong narratives.
