Hello! My name is Dustin, and I have been teaching high school social studies for over 17 years, specializing in World History, U.S. History, and American Government. I hold a B.A. in History and a Master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction, and I have spent my career helping students understand complex historical ideas while improving their reading, writing, and critical thinking skills.
As a classroom teacher, I work with students of all ability levels and understand that history and government can sometimes feel overwhelming because of the amount of information involved. My goal is to break complex topics down into clear and understandable concepts so students can build confidence and truly understand the material rather than just memorize facts.
In addition to content support, I help students strengthen important academic skills such as essay writing, document analysis, test preparation, and study strategies. Many students struggle with organizing historical arguments or interpreting primary sources, and I enjoy helping them develop the tools they need to succeed.
My tutoring style is patient, structured, and supportive. I believe students learn best when they feel comfortable asking questions and when lessons connect to real-world examples. I tailor each session to the individual student’s needs, whether that means reviewing class material, preparing for an upcoming exam, or improving writing skills.
Outside the classroom I also coach youth baseball, which has reinforced the importance of building relationships, encouraging growth, and helping students develop confidence through clear instruction.
I look forward to helping students succeed in history, government, and writing.
