I am a photography educator and active photographer with decades of experience behind the camera. I currently support college-level photography instruction at the College of San Mateo, where I work with beginning and intermediate students on camera operation, exposure, composition, Lightroom, image selection, and critique. I also lead photo walks and workshops throughout the Bay Area and teach photographers one-on-one. My own work focuses on urban photography, architecture, abstraction, reflections, and overlooked details.
My approach is practical and individualized. I start with what you want to learn and what is getting in your way. That might mean finally understanding your camera, getting off automatic settings, learning exposure and depth of field, improving composition, becoming more comfortable with Lightroom, or simply making photographs you like more. I use demonstrations, guided shooting, examples, and image review rather than overwhelming students with technical information all at once.
I work especially well with beginning and intermediate photographers, including adults who have owned a camera for years but still do not feel fully comfortable using it. I also help students who want to move beyond the technical side of photography and become more intentional about what they photograph and why. My goal is not to teach you to make photographs that look like mine. It is to help you understand the tools well enough to make stronger photographs that look like yours.
