Hi! I’m a native Spanish speaker and experienced Spanish and ESL educator with over 19 years of international teaching experience. I’ve taught children, teens, and adults at all levels in classroom, small-group, corporate, and one-on-one settings. I hold a Master of Education (M.Ed.) in Educational Innovation and Technology.

My experience includes teaching Spanish and English from the ground up, academic and course support, conversation, and pronunciation, including work with IPA through my training in acting and musical theater. My students have included K–12 and college students, adult language learners, and employees of international companies.

I’ve also developed specialized experience working with actors and healthcare professionals. I’ve helped actors with bilingual skills, pronunciation, auditions, and professional material, while my experience in medical translation and terminology allows me to support healthcare professionals who need Spanish to communicate with Spanish-speaking patients.

My approach depends on the student. I adapt my teaching to each person’s learning style, goals, interests, and personality, using what engages them to make learning more effective and enjoyable. I also have extensive experience working with neurodivergent learners and adapting when a different approach is needed.

I have been training since a young age, I've trained with great ballet dancers and choreographers who have danced professionally in companies around the world. I have a BFA in Dance and I have Musical Theatre training. Besides Ballet, I dance Jazz, Flamenco and Tap. I believe that a solid classical training is critic to master any other style of Dance.

I’ve been teaching English since 2007 and have worked with children and adults at all levels. I completed a 120-hour BridgeTEFL course with endorsements in Business English and Young Learners. My experience includes bilingual schools, private lessons, tutoring, corporate language programs, and college-level substitute teaching, from beginners building their English from the ground up to advanced learners developing conversation, pronunciation, and professional communication skills. My training in acting and musical theater also included IPA, which I use to support pronunciation and accent work.

I studied Yoga in India. I completed an intensive 200 hr Yoga Teacher Training Course in Rishikesh, where I stayed for over a month getting trained by talented teachers. I am a certified yoga teacher recognized by the U.S. Yoga Alliance.

Melisa is a fantastic teacher. She’s adaptive to the student’s needs, laid back, friendly and easy to laugh with. She is diligent in making sure her students understand how to correctly enunciate words and addresses questions with thoughtful consideration and patience. Really couldn’t recommend Melisa more!
