I am a Korean filmmaker based in Los Angeles, originally trained in Korea and later earning my MFA in Cinematography from the AFI Conservatory. Through my academic and professional journey in both Korea and the United States, I have developed a deep understanding of language as a tool for communication and cultural expression.
In addition to my professional career in the film industry, I have experience teaching and mentoring students, including working with high school students in Korea as an instructor. I have also guided international peers and creative collaborators in storytelling and communication development. I work with learners of various ages and levels, from beginners to advanced speakers, primarily in one-on-one settings. My approach is conversational and story-centered, helping students build confidence by expressing meaningful ideas rather than memorizing isolated grammar rules.
I believe language ability grows when a student genuinely wants to tell their own story. In my lessons, we explore topics from your own life — your interests, experiences, and goals — and build Korean around them. This approach encourages natural fluency, cultural awareness, and authentic expression. Whether online or in person in Los Angeles, I aim to create a supportive and engaging learning environment tailored to each student’s needs.
