Hello! My name is Lynette, and I am a fully certified history teacher with over 23 years of classroom experience dedicated to helping high school students unlock their full potential in the social sciences. Throughout my extensive career, I have specialized in AP Human Geography and World History, working closely with thousands of teenagers to navigate complex curricula and master rigorous coursework. Having spent more than two decades in education, I intimately understand the unique academic pressures high schoolers face. My proven track record of success speaks for itself, including maintaining a proud 90% student pass rate on the AP Human Geography exam.

My tutoring philosophy centers on making history and geography come alive by linking these subjects directly to students' real lives and the world around them. Instead of relying on forced rote memorization, I help students see how historical trends and spatial geographical models are actively playing out in their everyday environments. In our online sessions, history and geography finally make sense because we connect abstract concepts to things students can actually see all around them. We will utilize primary source analyses, interactive discussions, and targeted practice prompts to transform intimidating curriculum points into tangible, relatable realities.

Whether your student needs to master the specific free response writing skills required to score a 5 on an AP exam, or simply wants to improve their day-to-day classroom grades, I tailor every session to adapt to their individual learning pace. Over the years, I have successfully guided high school students of all academic backgrounds, creating a supportive, low-stress environment where they feel comfortable asking questions and analyzing their mistakes. I look forward to partnering with you and your student to help them build lifelong critical thinking skills and exceed their academic goals this year!

United States History

As a certified social studies teacher with over 23 years of total classroom experience, I spent 8 of those years specifically teaching United States History to high school students. My instructional approach centers on making American history tangible and engaging by connecting historical events, constitutional principles, and cultural movements directly to the modern world around us. I excel at helping students analyze primary sources, understand cause-and-effect timelines, and develop the strong thesis-writing skills required to excel in their coursework and essays. Whether a student needs help grasping specific historical eras or wants to master advanced analytical writing, I provide a supportive virtual space tailored to their individual learning pace.
