I am an award winning certificated teacher with experience teaching a broad range of students with varying abilities. My eight years of teaching experience include students who are gifted, English as a Second Language (ESL), and who have Individualized Education Plans; and my structured methodology is highly effective for proficient, basic, or below basic ability level students requiring more personalized instructions. I offer tutoring for individual students or small groups.

Whether a student needs only tutoring for a current course at their school, or an online class, I have the ability to work with students in person, online or a combination of both. I am an experienced classroom and online teacher who can support students utilizing Blackboard or APEXVS (Virtual Systems) and other online curriculums and methods to connect with students anywhere, and meet the needs of today's technology savvy students.

For enrichment, my classroom students are encouraged to create model science projects. Awarded a teacher fellowship in 2008, I created green energy lesson plans, which demonstrate how to harness wind as an energy resource, and how to design a model wind turbine. The wind turbine lesson plans, and other exemplary green energy lessons were selected by the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power for posting on the municipality's website for teachers and students all over the world to utilize.

A former entertainment professional, I am especially adept at engaging students with real life examples on how concepts and content that students are learning are applied or utilized in the real world. I treat all students with the utmost respect and genuine care. A parent of a former student, a medical doctor, wrote in her referral that "Ms. C. has many great personal qualities and abilities and some of her most endearing qualities are that she is very likable and her easy going manners." Other parents enjoyed that I was able to utilize my music background and stated that it added "a delightful dimension to their child

Currently, I teach Science in a public school. Additionally, after school, I teach private students who are not able to attend school in a supplemental program. My students are required to learn and become proficient in English, Grammar, Vocabulary, Writing, and Reading. Students are assigned fun and engaging activities, interactive media, and books for students to use. Also, I encourage students to employ the assistance of technology to practice English. I provide helpful websites. Students are given numerous exercises to practice speaking and writing. I am very supportive and patient tutor, and will guide and assist you until you reach your goal.
Biology

Biology

I am an expert biology teacher, and possess elaborate systems of knowledge of subject content and the teaching processes. My understanding of problems in learning subject content, and special ways of teaching students and concepts is extensive and well organized, such as the best way to explain DNA replication or cell division. I know how to relate content to the real world outside the classroom, and how to keep students engaged and involved in learning. I am analytical, reflective, and inventive in ways to improve learning for my student. I review, explain, check for understanding, and re-teach when necessary. I always consider time constraints, the level or difficulty, and the pace to keep my student motivated and learning. My philosophy is to be a guide working side by side with my student, and help them to develop study skills and habits that will be beneficial for future work.

Each year, the majority of my former students achieved advanced placement scores on the California Standards Test (CST) for science
