OK, so here are the particulars, on my biography: I am a 51 year-old teacher who has been teaching public (and private) school math, art, music, and general-education Kindergarten-through-9th grade California curriculum. I am from the Midwest and have a full, rounded background in K-12 education and tutoring. In 1986 I went East and studied East Asian studies at the University of Pennsylvania, in Philadelphia, for a year. I then transferred to Harvard to continue East Asian studies, and I began tutoring (via the Phillips Brooks House) and teaching up there in Boston.
I know the tests. I'm experienced. I am good with kids...that's it! I started out as a mediocre Test-taker (in the 1980s) and then learned (and practiced) some tricks. By the 1990s when I took the GRE, I became very interested in the test taking procedures that do and do not work.
I am a K-12 English Language and Literature credentialed specialty teacher certified by the Commission on Teacher Credentialing in Sacramento! I have been helping students with their writing--from college entrance essays to school journalism and everything in between--for 33 years.
I know the tests. I'm experienced. I am good with kids...that's it!
