I especially love helping students grasp the grammar rules of Spanish. Though this isn't often acknowledged, Spanish has one of the trickier grammar systems in any modern language! My background is unique, having grown up with Spanish in the household, but then learning it formally through my years of schooling along with studying abroad and living in Madrid, Spain. This mix of exposure to the language gives me both an academic perspective (I know how to pass the tests!), but also a sensibility with the language (colloquial terms, accent) that approaches that of native speakers. I consider myself a friendly, open person who sincerely enjoys making supportive connections with students. The language learning journey is a long and often uncomfortable one, and I specialize in helping students feel comfortable so that we can grow together. Stepping into another language and culture means stepping into the unknown -- no wonder people feel so self-conscious when speaking a foreign language!
