Hi! I'm Amisha! I studied Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences (EECS) and Data Science with a concentration in Computational Biology at UC Berkeley, while pursuing a pre-health track. My academic background has given me a strong foundation in mathematics, biology, chemistry, physics, statistics, and programming. I scored a 1540 on the SAT, including a perfect 800 in Math, and earned 5s on all my AP exams. My AP coursework spans Chemistry, Physics, Biology, Macroeconomics, Microeconomics, Calculus, Music Theory, English Literature and Language, Spanish Literature and Language, and Latin, giving me a broad academic background across STEM and the humanities.

I have over five years of tutoring experience across multiple in-person and online platforms, specializing in SAT preparation, AP coursework, mathematics, science, and computer science. I've worked one-on-one with students of different ages, skill levels, and learning styles, helping them strengthen foundational concepts, improve test-taking strategies, and approach challenging material with confidence. My SAT preparation sessions emphasize recognizing question patterns, managing time effectively, and mastering the reasoning skills needed for competitive scores.

My teaching approach is highly personalized. I identify each student's strengths and knowledge gaps, break complex concepts into manageable steps, and adapt my explanations until the material truly clicks. Whether we're preparing for an AP exam, tackling difficult homework, or working toward a higher SAT score, I focus on genuine understanding rather than memorization.

I want every student to feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes, and celebrating their progress. Parents can expect structured, engaging sessions tailored to their child's goals, while students can expect a patient, encouraging tutor who genuinely cares about their success. My goal is to help students achieve stronger academic results while developing the confidence and independence to thrive beyond our lessons!

Approved Subjects

Algebra 1

Algebra 1

I studied Computer Science and Data Science at UC Berkeley, where I completed rigorous mathematics coursework and developed a strong foundation in algebra, calculus, and analytical problem-solving. I also earned a perfect 800 on the SAT Math section, reflecting my proficiency in foundational mathematics. I help students master Algebra 1 topics including linear equations, inequalities, functions, graphing, exponents, and quadratic equations. My teaching approach focuses on breaking down problems step by step, strengthening conceptual understanding, and helping students build the confidence to solve problems independently.
Biology

Biology

I studied Computer Science and Data Science with a concentration in Computational Biology at UC Berkeley, where I also worked as a neuroscience researcher in the Cognition and Action Lab. My research focused on motor learning, human behavior, and analyzing experimental data to better understand how the brain controls movement. My academic background includes biology, bioengineering, and computational approaches to studying biological systems. I enjoy helping students understand complex biology concepts through clear explanations, real-world examples, and an emphasis on conceptual understanding rather than memorization.
Chemistry

Chemistry

I studied Computer Science and Data Science at UC Berkeley and earned a 5 on the AP Chemistry exam. With over five years of tutoring experience, I help students master chemistry concepts ranging from atomic structure and chemical bonding to stoichiometry, equilibrium, thermodynamics, and acid-base reactions. My approach focuses on breaking down challenging topics into intuitive explanations, connecting concepts to real-world examples, and building strong problem-solving skills. Whether you're preparing for AP Chemistry, improving your grades, or strengthening your understanding of general chemistry, I tailor each lesson to your goals and learning style.
Physics

Physics

I served as an Undergraduate Student Instructor (UGSI) for Physics 77/88 at UC Berkeley, helping students develop their understanding of physics through problem-solving and conceptual explanations. I studied Computer Science and Data Science with a concentration in Computational Biology at UC Berkeley, where I built a strong foundation in mathematics, scientific computing, and quantitative reasoning. My experience as a neuroscience researcher in UC Berkeley's Cognition and Action Lab also involved applying mathematical and computational methods to study human movement and motor learning. I enjoy breaking down challenging physics concepts into intuitive, manageable steps and helping students build the confidence to solve problems independently.
Python

Python

I studied Computer Science and Data Science at UC Berkeley and have professional experience developing software, AI applications, and data-processing systems using Python. I've used Python extensively in coursework, research, and industry projects, including backend development, machine learning, and algorithm design. I tutor students in Python fundamentals, data structures, object-oriented programming, recursion, debugging, and more advanced programming concepts. My lessons emphasize hands-on coding, clear explanations, and building the confidence to solve programming problems independently, whether you're a complete beginner or preparing for college-level computer science courses.
SAT Math

SAT Math

I earned a perfect 800 on SAT Math and a 1540 overall, and I've spent over five years helping students strengthen their mathematics and test-taking skills. My SAT Math tutoring covers algebra, advanced math, problem-solving, data analysis, geometry, and trigonometry, with an emphasis on the question patterns and strategies tested on the digital SAT. I help students identify their weak areas, improve accuracy and pacing, and learn how to use tools like the built-in Desmos calculator effectively. Each session is tailored to the student's starting score and target score, combining focused concept review, timed practice, and detailed error analysis to build confidence and maximize improvement.
