Hi! I'm Aelisa, an engineer-turned-entrepreneur with a passion for helping students learn, grow, and build confidence in their abilities.
I earned my degree in Civil and Environmental Engineering from UC Davis and spent 11 years as a practicing civil engineer before transitioning into entrepreneurship, where I’ve been leading and building a business for the past decade. While my career has taken me through exciting challenges in both engineering and business, guiding and mentoring students has always been something I’ve truly loved.
Over the past five years, I have mentored and taught STEM students, working with learners from elementary school through college and beyond. I ran a STEM career accelerator supporting high school students (9th grade and up), college students, and post-graduates, helping them navigate career exploration, college and career readiness, and professional development. As a licensed Professional Engineer with 10 years of engineering experience and a tech entrepreneur who has built real-world software, I bring both technical expertise and practical industry knowledge to my tutoring.
My tutoring approach is grounded in systems thinking and structured problem-solving. I focus on helping students break down complex problems, set up solutions methodically, and organize what they know to build confidence in their abilities. I believe in an empathy-driven, learner-led approach that adapts to each student’s needs, using a mix of demonstrator/coach and facilitator/activity-based methods. Whether you're looking for support in math, engineering, or career development, I’m here to help you succeed in a way that makes sense for you. I look forward to working with you!
