Hi, I'm Maithili! I'm an undergraduate at UC Berkeley studying Chemical Engineering. My love for chemistry started in high school with Honors Chemistry and AP Chemistry, and I decided to continue this into college.

Chemistry can be tricky to begin with. It can take a little bit of time to ground yourself in the basics, but with a strong foundation, everything else comes together. It's like if you were learning a new language, before tackling the grammar and sentence structure, you'd need to learn the actual letters of the alphabet. Chemistry is the same way, and I truly believe that it's a subject everyone can love if they start with a great teacher!

I've been tutoring in chemistry for the past year, and have also led study group sessions to help my friends and peers succeed in our college classes. Prior to that, I've been tutoring English as a Second Language for many years to middle and high school students. I believe in creating an honest and vulnerable path to communication with my students- you should never be afraid to ask questions (regardless of how many times you might not understand something!) My goal is for my students to leave their lessons feeling confident enough to teach the material to someone else. I focus on the "why" so that my students' understanding of the topic goes past just superficial memorization.
