About Dante

Bio

My name is Dante D, a current third year at UC Berkeley studying physics and math. I plan on continuing this path hopefully through formal research, with a special interest in particle physics. I am and have been motivated to progress on this path by a love for learning, putting the pieces together of how we understand and describe the world around us.

My name is Dante D, a current third year at UC Berkeley studying physics and math. I plan on continuing this path hopefully through formal research, with a special interest in particle physics. I am and have been motivated to progress on this path by a love for learning, putting the pieces together of how we understand and describe the world around us.

Growing up, especially in high school, I noticed very bright kids around me struggle particularly in the subject of math, and wanted to figure out why. Most of the time when I inquired as a tutor or as a friend, this was due to one or several demoralizing experiences with teachers or parents that gave them an early bad outlook on the subject. In growing as an educator and a human, I became to understand that math is simply a skill set that many people have simply been dissuaded from improving - to completely no fault of their own. I make it a foundational principle that every student, with a bit of curiosity and time spent, can be successful in sharpening these skills not only to pass tests, but to really grasp the subject. Below I have a short outline of what I plan to implement in sessions to best achieve this goal.

The Content:
Each subject has essential concepts that are taught. Each of these relates to each other in some way, and painting a whole picture of how individual items come together can help in understanding. Additionally, a firm grasp on each concept will be taught with a focus on intuitive understanding instead of just getting them across.

As a Tool Belt:
During and after teaching the content of a particular subject, time will be taken to ensure that the student also understands how concepts are used in practice, linking problems and tests to what was taught in the course.

Practice:
Practice problems, whether provided by the student or me will be taught with an emphasis on knowing which concepts may apply and how to properly do so.

Thank you, and I hope to see you in class soon!
