Hi, I'm Robert! As an instructor and tutor, I aim to make education fun! I was inspired by my high school science teacher to become a teacher. Once I completed my studies, I sought opportunities to teach through play, storytelling, and unique activities to make education enjoyable.

I earned a 3.8 GPA in high school, and scored a 5 on the AP Calculus AB exam, a 5 on the AP Physics C: Mechanics exam and a 4 on the APUSH exam. In college, I was a TAP (Teacher-Apprenticeship Program) tutor for high school students. I then studied at Cal Poly SLO and earned a Bachelor's degree in Physics in 2013.

During my seven years of experience teaching enrichment courses and after-school lessons to kids ages 5 to 18 years old, I've developed unique strategies to help a wide-range of students learn concepts in math, science, engineering, statistics, and coding. By introducing curriculum through manipulatives and games that students are familiar with, I found that retention soared! Students and parents alike have enjoyed my unique approach and mentality towards tutoring.

I have spent the past year tutoring elementary mathematics virtually, including Algebra, Geometry, and Statistics. For one-on-one tutoring, I like to start by focusing on the student's current homework assignments and ensuring they understand the material, whether that's math, science, history, or English. From there, I utilize digital resources to reinforce concepts and explore upcoming ideas in the student's normal school curriculum. I work closely with clients to determine the optimal educational journey, ensuring you get the education you deserve. Thank you for taking the time to read my profile, and I hope to hear from you soon. If you have any questions for me, please do not hesitate to reach out!

ADHD

ADHD

It is my goal is to show others how learning can be fun. For over 7 years, I taught LEGO Engineering classes and summer camps, which typically had a few students with ADHD in each session. I probably worked with over 200 individuals that had been diagnosed with ADHD, and just as many who had not been diagnosed. More recently I worked at a school, teaching students who were struggling to pass their classes in a 1 on 1 environment. Most of those students had ADHD or some other form of a learning difference.
Anthropology

Anthropology

I took a class in high school on Anthropology, and took a couple classes in college on the topic as well. For a few years I debated majoring in Anthropology. I ended up majoring in Physics, but my passion for Anthropology remained.
Common Core

Common Core

I have recently tutored groups of students between the 3rd through 8th grade in mathematics, focused on developing and expanding on in-classroom topics and Common Core standards. This summer, I taught mathematic classes in a 1 on 1 setting using curriculum based on the Common Core standards. I also studied Common Core standards in several classes during college, where my focus was Physics with an emphasis on education.
Elementary (K-6th)

Elementary (K-6th)

I have been tutoring Elementary (K-6th) mathematics remotely for the past year. In that time, I have worked with over 20 children on Elementary mathematics, and have helped them improve their grades significantly. I also excel at being a positive presence, which I have been told children enjoy working with. I like to say that learning is easier when you are having fun, and it's easier to have fun when you are learning. Before I was a tutor, I taught a lot of afterschool classes and summer camps with children between the ages of 5 and 12.
Video Production

Video Production

I have my own Youtube channel, which I started in 2016. I taught a couple after school classes showing middle schoolers the basics of video production in 2019. IN those classes, we used video cameras and webcams to record content they could put up on a Youtube channel. I also talked a bit about the work that goes into promoting your content, and why collaborating is the best way to grow your channel.

Great tutor for ADHD students

My 13-year-old son has ADHD and mild dyscalculia. Robert is very polite and patient. He is also flexible about helping with school assignments and study guides that have been uploaded to him. He has helped my son with math, science, and history assignments. My son has 3 lessons per week with Robert and is always happy to work with him.

Knowledgeable and patient tutor

Robert taught my daughter math and science and ELA. Even though my daughter was reluctant to do homework before Robert took the classes with patience and made her interested in solving her homework little by little without making her feel bored. She always finished her classes happily. I am thankful for everything he did.

Patient tutor

Robert was very patient with our 11 year old son who struggles with ADHD and dyslexia. He took his time reviewing the math problems and made sure the concept was sufficiently mastered before moving on to the next concept. We will most definitely be working with him in the future.

Extremely helpful

My son met with Robert for the first time in person to help prepare for a calculus quiz. Robert was kind, polite, supportive, patient and knowledgeable. Communication was great prior to tutoring and my son said he explained how to solve a problem when he didn’t understand the first time. My son got 22 out of 25 on his quiz, so Robert was able to help him understand the concept. We will be booking the next appointment with Robert.

Helps build confidence

Robert has worked with my daughter for a couple months now in Geometry. She had given up and was embarrassed at school that she just felt lost. Robert worked with her and now she comes up to me with a smile and says she can do math again. She feels stronger facing new math. I know Robert has great patience and has really done a terrific job.
