Hello ! I received a PhD in Biochemistry/ Neuroscience from Duke University. Prior to that I completed my bachelors in Chemistry/ Physics/ Math from India. My classroom teaching experience includes three years teaching undergraduate basic biochemistry/ chemistry and laboratory courses in molecular biology while in graduate school and beyond. While tutoring my children and their classmates in science and math courses and preparing for tests in elementary school, I started finding great satisfaction in building foundational knowledge and early excitement in STEM.
My approach is covering the syllabus in great details in discussions, focusing on subtopics that are a pain point for students and building concepts rather than rote learning. I encourage students to ask questions and take notes actively during tutoring because asking and writing helps to commit the concepts to long term memory. I let students work on problems, come up with solutions independently and discuss those as required. Lastly, I recommend that after tuition, students also do self study particularly subjects and topics that they need more attention with.
I am easy to reach and happy to schedule a free consultation session to understand the student's needs and the family's expectations. I would encourage students and parents to share curriculum and materials they wish to review at the tuition, as much as possible. I believe a strong base in Math and/ or Science subjects goes a long way in developing logic, critical and analytical thinking in any discipline a student follows. I am committed to each students success and would love to see each one of them shine.
