My strategy for giving lessons is straightforward, as it consists of three parts: (1) Part 1: The Why. In this part, my students and I explore why we are learning the lesson in the first place, and how it will be used in higher education or even in real life. (2) Part 2: The What. In this part, we investigate the theory upon which the lesson is based, where it came from, and what equations it entails. Once the student understands where the theory comes from, it becomes easier to understand the theory and recall its equations. (3) Part 3: The How. In this part, we practice as many problems as we can. Practice makes perfect, so the more, the merrier.
I have developed this strategy from my students who continuously give me feedback on how I can improve my teaching methods. I have experience in both in-person tutoring and online tutoring. In fact, I used to own a tutoring center where students would come to my classes after college. When Covid-19 hit, my team and I purchased digital pads and pens (the ones you see in Khan's academy) and started learning how to use them with OneNote. In one month only, we were able to master their use and started giving lessons online via Zoom, which students loved even more than the in-person experience!
I hold an undergraduate degree in Civil Engineering and a minor in Mathematics from the American University of Beirut, and a Master of Science in Business Analytics from UCLA Anderson. The courses I have experience tutoring (and would love to continue teaching) are:
